Switzerland: 

The President of Switzerland, Simonetta Sommaruga, is calling for a summit of Swiss Cantons to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Cases are rising rapidly in Switzerland, but the President hopes that action following this meeting can prevent a second lockdown period. 

Die Präsidentin der Schweiz, Simonetta Sommaruga, möchte ein Treffen mit Beamten aller Kantonen abhalten. COVID-19-Fälle nehmen rasch zu, aber sie hofft, dass dieses Treffen dazu beitragen kann, eine weitere Ausgangssperre zu verhindern.

Austria: 

On October 11, 2020, Vienna held its state election. Mail-in ballots are still being counted, but the preliminary numerical results indicate that the SPÖ won every Viennese district by a wide margin.

Am 11. Oktober, 2020, gab die Wiener Gemeinderats- und Bezirksvertretungswahlen 2020. Die Auszählung der Briefwahlstimmen läuft noch, aber das vorläufige ziffernmäßige Ergebnis der Bezirkswahlbehörde lässt es erkennen, dass die SPÖ jeden Bezirk stark gewonnen hat.

Germany:

Germany raises restrictions due to the spread of COVID-19 with a total of now over 340,000 cases of the virus. “Lost” is Germany’s word of the youth for 2020. Deutschland erhöht die Beschränkungen wegen der Ausbreitung von COVID-19 und insgesamt über 340.000 Fällen des Virus. “Lost” ist Deutschlands Jugendwort des Jahres 2020.

Luxembourg: 

Luxembourg will likely be the first EU country to legalize cannabis; however, the country's cannabis legalization plan is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Es ist wahrscheinlich, dass Luxemburg der erste Land in Europa wird, Cannabis zu legalisieren; die Legalisierungsplan ist jedoch verspätet wegen der Coronavirus Pandemie.

Liechtenstein: 

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Luxembourg is getting progressively worse. According to the Amt für Statistik, there were over 22 positive cases this month, setting a new record.   

Der Anzahl der Coronavirus-Fällen steigt fast jede Woche höher in Liechtenstein. Laut des Amtes für Statistik, gab es schon diese Woche 22 Fälle, damit einen neuen Rekord im Land aufgestellt wurde.

This month, Belgium achieved historic firsts in government by appointing Petra de Sutter, doctor and gynecology professor, as Deputy Prime Minister, as well as Eliane Tillieux, businesswoman and politician, as Speaker of the House. Socialist Party MP Tillieux is the first woman to hold the office of Speaker of the House, while Green Party MP de Sutter is the first openly transgender individual to be appointed a cabinet minister in Europe.

Dieser Monat hat Belgien historische Neuerungen in der Regierung erzielt, durch sowohl die Ernennung von Petra de Sutter, Ärztin und Professorin für Gynäkologie, als Vizeministerpräsidentinen, als auch die Ernennung von Eliane Tilleux, Geschäftsfrau und Politikerin, als Präsidentin der belgischen Abgeordnetenkammer. Sozialistische Partei Abgeordneter Tilleiux ist die erste Frau, die als Präsidentin der belgischen Abeordnetenkammer ernannt wurde und Grüne Partei Abgeordneter de Sutter ist die erste offene transgender Person in Europa, die einen Beruf ins Kabinett bekommen hat.
